The Role of the ELL Teacher as a Support or Co-Teacher:
1. Identify strategies for working effectively as a co-teacher and the challenges involved
2. Explore ideas for overcoming these challenges
3. Share role descriptions and documentation for ELLs
4. Write language objectives for co-taught classes
5. Discuss PD opportunities for classroom and co-teachers
6. Generate a list of resources and share strategies for working with ELLs to develop language proficiency

Susan Guderyon graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in French. She earned a Masters in Language Acquisition and ESL from the University of Minnesota. Susan is fluent in French and Spanish and has a Bilingual Education Certificate in Spanish. As a teacher of French, ESL, DP English Language Acquisition and Bilingual Education, Susan has over 30 years of experience with students K-12. Susan worked at an International School in Lima, Peru, and more recently at TCIS for three years. Susan is enjoying her first year at SFS as the High School ELL and Academic Support teacher. When not in the classroom, Susan enjoys sports, travel, theater and spending time with her 15-year-old daughter.

Christie Gordon is a University of Michigan alumni (2000) who earned her Masters in Language Education from Indiana University in 2008. Over Christie Gordon's 13 years at TCIS, she has worn many hats, from English Lit. teacher to K-12 World Language Coordinator to MYP Personal Project Coordinator, but Christie has taught MYP and DP Spanish Language Acquisition at TCIS for 11 years. She has also served as the Secondary Language Acquisition Head of Department for 8 years overall. In 2016, she made the switch from Spanish to English Language Acquisition when she stepped into the role of K-12 ELL Coordinator. Christie has enjoyed the change and the challenges that this role has brought, and she is experimenting and growing in her role as an ELL co-teacher. Christie and her husband met at TCIS and have 2 children, 2 and 4 years old.
