Paris, London, Seoul. Chances are if you live in one of the world's global cities, you know these names. But do you know the megacities of tomorrow — Nay Pyi Taw, Miluo, Abuja, Zinder? And how can the astonishing growth of cities worldwide become a teachable moment today for the high school students who will be living in them tomorrow? This session will describe a global cities project including Chadwick International School, the American School of Paris, Green School Bali and the American School of Mexico, aimed at helping students to understand the forces behind urbanization and to create their own digital stories about how cities are adapting to the population boom where they live. Songdo and its remarkable growth from mud flat to modern city will be a special focus. The session will also include a discussion of readings, resources, digital tools and animations that teachers can use to bring the world into their classrooms.
