Technology in the Math Classroom

A discussion and learning session about tools and technology that we can be using in the math classroom to help students best learn. Technology is updating rapidly and it's our responsibility as teachers to know how to best use and apply it in our classrooms. Technology that will be highlighted during this presentation will be Plickers, Geogebra, and Desmos. All skill levels welcome.

Christopher Coleman graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington and has presented at professional development events around Maine. He is teaching Calculus, Geometry, and Pre-Algebra in Daegu and stresses the importance of point-slope form over slope-intercept form constantly. He has been teaching for one year in Korea and is ecstatic to continue working abroad.

K-12 Makerspaces & MYP Design

We're looking to connect and share notes with all those who run makerspaces and/or teach MYP Design or who aspire to build up a space/program at their school.

Both Gary and Andrew have built up Makerspaces from scratch and have over 20 years of combined experience across a broad range of "Maker" tools from 3D Printing, Laser cutter, Vinyl cutter, Digital Embroidery, Arduino, mBot, Scratch, CNC, woodworking, sewing.

Guiding Students to Become Wise Users in the Digital Age

In this workshop we will explore how resources, such as Common Sense Education and Nearpod can help educators develop a responsible and safe one-to-one online environment in the classroom. Teachers and parents should work as a team to help guide their children in using technology safely, therefore, we will also explore ways to get parents more involved in this initiative as well. (Please bring a laptop or tablet to this workshop.)

Carolyn Marks is the VS Technology Support Coordinator and Digital Citizenship Lead at Chadwick International School. She supports the school's iPad and Laptop one-to-one program at the elementary level.
